Choosing Joy

There are many forms of joy. The joy of creating beauty, the joy of receiving a gift, the joy of expressing love.

But there is another kind of joy that if chosen, far outweighs it all. A joy that breaks through the hard ground, hopes in the darkness and sings in the chaos. This joy gives strength when there is not a fibre of your being left to hold on. It is a joy so deep and so fulfilling, because it stems from the very heart of God.

What is freedom? Finding Freedom in Community

What does freedom mean to you?

For me its to live as I was meant to live, to fully live out what God created me to be.

These few days, I’ve been learning the importance of having freedom in community.

I used to see freedom as wanting to go somewhere far far away to hide myself from the face of the earth. To be isolated from problems and troubles and drama and conflict. But I’m discovering that true freedom comes in being able to love and be loved. Being able to overcome despair and disappointments and love again.

There at the olive grove, the Garden of Gethsemane, He desired to share His wrestling with God with common men, fishermen to be precise, whose strength in the hour was insufficient to keep them awake.
