When you have to restart from zero: Finding perspective in the midst of loss and devouring

I stayed in the home of an elderly couple about 2 years ago. It was a beautiful experience, one that I will not easily forget. One of the highlights of staying with people who have gone through way more years than you, is the opportunity to sit and listen to their stories.

Art and Creativity: Finding God’s Perspective for me as a Creative Person – a guided study of Exodus 31

God loves Creativity. Among the very first things He talks about in His word – even before He talks about mankind, is a detailed peek into the Creation of the heavens and the earth. He repeats His love for artistry in the book of Exodus, as He detailed the building of the tabernacle, the place where His presence would reside with His people.

What occupies your mind? Gazing Upwards and Learning to Wonder.

I used to gaze in wonder as a child, watching the wonder of a sunrise, or the beauty of a rainbow. I still gaze now and again, especially when I see an eagle soaring above me, or at some unique flower growing out of the cement (yes where I stay now gives me this privilege).

But if I’m honest with you, I find it harder to stop and gaze now then when I was a child. Life comes with its worries and baggage and tries to pull me down. I no longer look at my yummy meal and savour every bite of it, in fact I am usually multitasking on the phone. I no longer find rain intriguing, in fact I sometimes consider it a nuisance.

A Masterpiece and no less

On a lovely white pillow in my room, is a cross-stitched art with these words from Ephesians 2:10 in the Bible ‘ For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.’

One night, as I stared at it, I found the word ‘anew’ jump at me. In Christ I am created anew.
