The fire ranged, the threat was real, Daniel and his friends could have easily averted a disaster if they bowed down to the king. But they only served one King, and would bow down to no other, no matter how much they honoured him.

Hope in the Midst of the Storm
Paul along with Luke was on a boat that had encountered a mighty storm. They had tried all means for survival. They had thrown cargo offboard, they had let go of the ships tackle.
They had exhausted all possible efforts.
But verse 20 of Acts 27 records this
When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved.
Finding stillness in the Midst of a Storm
There I was looking at the little boat by the shore in a picture. A picture of serenity and stillness. if being still meant this it sure would be easy.
But then it occurred to me. This is not where the boat belongs. Yes the boat is placed by the shore when not in use, but where it finds it purpose and destiny is when it is out there on the sea, weathering the winds and the waves.
