Out of the Wreck I Rise | Victorious Love

Romans 8:35 ‘ Who shall separate us from the Love of Christ ‘
Over the years in my Christian life, I have become increasingly aware of two things. Firstly,of the fact that God doesn’t keep us free from troubles. And secondly, that He is with us in the midst of our troubles.
I love the beautiful passage in Romans 8:28-39. It’s like Paul here is going on a tangent, talking about the perils that the Christian life encounters and at the same time the victory we have in Christ simply because nothing can affect our relationship with Christ in His love.
For me, the description of troubles that Paul list here are no child’s play. They go beyond exams and jobs and sleepless nights. They include persecution, sickness, spiritual warfare, death, starvation. Yet, when everything around seems to shout that ‘God’s love is a lie’, Paul is alluding to the reality that God’s love is as real as ever, and that nothing will separate us from His love.
What does this mean for me?
It means that God is there even when I don’t feel Him. It means that I can face each day even when my world around me is crashing. It means I am not forsaken when friends or family forsake me. It means that when I wake up with a panic attack, God hasn’t left me. It means that when bad things happen, God’s love will still triumph and it is working in me and through me for good towards the day of the Lord.
It means that even when the odds are against me and I don’t feel very brave or composed or put together, I am more than a conqueror through Christ who loves me.st who loves me.
This picture was one of the ideas I had a long time ago. Having gone through seasons of depression where I questioned the presence of God, I formed this picture in my head of God carrying me out of a war zone.
Battling suicidal thoughts daily, waking up with such panic that my hands go numb and my mind goes off, crying for no apparent reasons….I realised that even when it didn’t feel like God was there, the truth was ‘nothing could separate me from His love in Christ’. He was there, right there, holding me in that war zone, carrying me out, and I am victorious through Him.
Maybe the ‘wars’ you are facing today are greater and way more different than mine. But take heart, because nothing can separate you from His love. Although it seems like He is nowhere, He is now here.
Be blessed.
