Habakkuk 3:19 ‘ The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet and He will make me walk on my high hills. ‘
There are many type of deer’s. I used to think of Rudolf the red nose rain deer whenever I read about deer’s in the bible. I mean, these were the pictures you grew up with right.
Well, I knew I wanted to draw a deer when I drew this piece. I had a very very challenging day and drawing was what I needed to help me focus on the positive. So I went and research. And this time instead of just picking a reindeer picture and starting there, I decided to find out what the exact kind of deer the bible was referring to. Well, it wasn’t deep research, but I concluded that a reindeer probably wasn’t the deer that was on a high hill.
So here’s a picture of a gazelle, a deer that goes on high places. If you trust Mr Google enough and type gazelle, you will see a nimble animal that looks sharp, a little cunning, but extremely agile and you will believe it can leap over walls (Psalm 18). Its the closest I could think of when I was drawing.
So here’s is my artistic interpretation of Psalm 18 and Habakkuk 3:19. That whatever challenges life throws at you, with God, He will give you the grace and agility to navigate life. And He will smoothen the path under your feet.
I used to admire those who do bouldering, I tried it once and it was HARD. But when God gives you the grace to love, forgive, and let go, the daggers that are thrown at you, can be the very stepping stones you use, to ‘leap’ over a wall.
summary of the picture if food makes more sense to you: when life gives you lemons, just make some refreshing lemonade. Its been hot these days.
Much love and grace
Eunice
