So I am a Bible believing Christian, and while I’m not particularly shy about my faith. I also don’t go around sharing my beliefs everyday a lot. I guess its easy to assume that people don’t really want to hear or already know what a Christian believes.
Well, today, while lying down and resting (I was having a mini bout of depression). I woke up just realising how dark life can be (and how scary death is) for people who don’t have this message of hope. And I realised I must never just assume people know or understand.
And so I’m going to share what I believe here today. I’m going to boldly write down why although I do struggle with challenges and dark bouts, I don’t lose hope. And why while I still struggle sometimes with being anxious, I don’t fear death.
Many people believe different things about life and death. I for one thing, believe that we all live once, and one day face death. I don’t believe in reincarnation, for me, each human being is a unique creation that is special in the eyes of God. Yet I believe that we all were actually made for eternal life, and death never was God’s will for us.
And so I believe in God, a loving God, a God who is loving, yet a God who is Holy and just and cannot stand wrongdoings. And the reason that there is death is we all have rebelled against God and went our own way, and that causes separation with a Holy God. We have all sinned (as the bible terms it) and this causes a huge divide because although God loves us so much, He cannot stop being Holy and Just and must punish sin. And so there is death and damnation, eternal separation with God for those who don’t know Him.
Which then leads to the good part. Because God in His love did not just leave us to die. He Himself came down. Jesus Christ(who actually existed historically), fully God and fully man, lived a perfect life and performing many miracles to prove He was God. Yet He was crucified on a cross, one of the most brutal way to die in that time. Why, to pay the penalty for all our sins, so that through Him, there is a way to escape eternal death and damnation and receive eternal life and salvation.
And for anyone willing to receive this gift, (it is for everyone who believes), although physically we die, we will be raised to life again in Christ. We no longer need to fear death or condemnation. Three days later, Jesus Christ rose from the dead, He showed Himself to many many of His followers and then ascended to heaven. One day He is coming back again and all those who trust in Him will be gathered to Him. There is forgiveness of sins through Him.
