Breath of Life (poem)

watercolour kingfisher

He spoke light into darkness,

shaped the earth and the universe.

 He commanded every living thing,

coloured the sky and the earth.

He shaped mankind out of dust,

made them the crown of every living thing.

He breathed His life into our being,

Spirit infused ones, given a mandate to rule as kings.

But we rebelled and we rejected,

gave up our role as rightful stewards.

We ploughed and we plundered,

ruining the earth that our Creator watered.

We killed and we coveted,

smearing humanity with darkness.

So our breathe stopped,

our world suffered.

 The beauty was tainted,

with ugly darkness.

Evil entered as sin abound,

and instead of living free, our hearts were bound.

But His mercy endured,

and His justice reigned.

And onto the earth He walked again.

He ransomed His life,

paid the pric;

loving and saving, He was the Christ.

Today He breathes His life anew,

on those who willingly submit to His will,

To those who realise that sin was their doing,

asking Him to cleanse from within.

Today He offers you new breath new life,

from this lifelessness, will you be revived?
